Tamada to race in the Japanese Championship at Autopolis
Makoto Tamada, currently racing full time in the Asian Road Racing Championship, will be racing for the first in 11 years, at the Japanese Championship at Autopolis. The Round 3 of the All Japan Road Race Championship, “Autopolis Super 2&4 Race” will be held on June 1st and 2nd. The race schedule will include only JSB1000 and ST600 class in the motorcycle race, and Super Formula, Japan’s top open-wheel category, will also be held.
Tamada will be competing in the ST600 class from “Honda Team Asia”, the same team Tamada raced at the Suzuka 8 Hours last year. His entry number is “100”. As the Asian Championship will race here at Autopolis in September, this entry will also mean preparation for that race. Tamada will be using Dunlop tires.
The last time Tamada raced in the Japanese Championship was 11 years ago in 2002. The last time he raced at Autopolis was in 1994, when he was racing in the GP250 novice class. However, Tamada has experience here testing for Kawasaki in his World Superbike entry.

Makoto Tamada, #100 Honda Team Asia
“I am looking forward to this race, as it has been awhile since I last raced at the Japanese Championship. Autopolis is located very near RSC Kotake, the team I raced with from my novice years up until I became a factory rider for HRC. I have lots of fans and friends in Kyushu, so meeting them is an another thing I am looking forward to. Although it’s preparation for the Asian Championship race, I am going to be full mode, and the only thing I am going to aim for is to win the race.”
