Tamada gets his first podium finish at the Asian Championship
With a set-up that did not satisfy Tamada, he went on marking his personal best in Race 1. However, his tires did not allow him to push from about half point of the race. He held tight to his 4th position throughout the whole race, but allowed his teammate, Ryuta Kobayashi to pass him at the final corner of the final lap, and ended up fifth. His teammate, Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (Honda) won his first Asian Championship Supersports race, and Katsuaaki Fujiwara(Kawasaki) came in second.
Tamada, learning from Race 1, changed his set-up for Race 2, and re-tried his strategy that did not work for him in the earlier race. Although he dropped a little at the start, he made his up to 4th position easily. He marked the race’s fastest lap, and this time made it right behind the three top runners. Tamada hung on to his position, and waited for his chance. He found his chance to pass Zamri Baba (Yamaha), and advanced to 3rd, but a small mistake at Corner 1, made him drop back to 4th, but recovered and made it back to 3rd place. However, the gap with the top 2 riders did not allow Tamada to catch them. Fujiwara won Race 2, with Azlan coming in 2nd.
