Kagayama first raced in Japan Roadrace Championship in 1995.  Being a Suzuki factory rider, he has raced as a wildcard entry in MotoGP and SBK, as well as the Suzuka 8 hours Endurace Race.  In 2003, he became the first Japanese rider to enter the British Superbike Championship.  In 2005, Kagayama moved on to the World Superbike Championship where he raced as a Title contender.  In 2010, he moves back to the British Superbike Championship, where he calls it his “second home”.

In 2011, Kagayama returns to Japan and forms his own team in the Japanese Championship.  Team KAGAYAMA, now the top team for Suzuki in Championship has been a champion contender since its first season.
