Qualifying rounds of BSB Round 2 at Thruxton took place in a relatively warm weather.  Kagayama showed consistency in his qualifying attempts, and makes it Q3.  He finishes 4th with a time of 1’15.237.  Kiyonari did not make it to Q3, and ends up in 13th place.  Pole position went to Kagayama’s teammate Tommy Hill.

Q1, with 3 red flags, made it difficult to riders to hold on to their concentration.  Kagayama, although a bit irritated for the interruptions, made an easy 3rd place to make Q2.  Kiyonari, who changed his set-up from his morning practice, had quite a busy session.  He went in and out of the pit to find a solution for his set-up.  He finished 11th in the session and made to Q2.

In Q2, Kagayama still showed consistency as he finished the session in 5th position, and made it to Q3.  Kiyonari, still searching for a suitable set-up, finished 13th.  His qualification round ended here.

Kagayama achieved his best lap of the week in Q3, and finished 4th.  He will start from the front row tomorrow.  This qualification result is only for Race 1.  The grid for Race 2 will decided by the best laps of each rider in Race 1.

Yukio Kagayama, Worx Crescent Suzuki
“Although I was a little irritated in Q1, I was able to maintain my concentration.  I am happy that I am on the front row.  This week has been good and trouble-free, thanks to my mechanics.  I will concentrate on my start tomorrow, and try to win the race.”

Ryuichi Kiyonari, HM Plant Honda
“We found a good set-up in the morning practice, but we changed the setting for Qualifying.  That did not work as well as I expected it.  For tomorrow, we will return to the setting I had this morning, and try to finish the race as high as possible.”
