Kagayama and Kiyonari to race at Suzuka 8hrs

The outline of “2010 QTEL FIM Endurance World Championship Series, Round 3 The 33rd “Coca-Cola Zero”Suzuka 8hours Endurance Road Race”, the so-called Suzuka 8 hours or Hachitai in Japan, was announced today in front of the Japanese media at Suzuka Circuit.

The race will be held from July 22nd to July 25th.  This year’s theme has been announced as “Motto Hachitai, Motto Bike” which means “more Hachitai, more Bike” in Japanese.

Fruitful number of events during race week has also been announced.

From Speed of Japan, Yukio Kagayama will be racing from Yoshimura Japan.  His teammates will be Daisaku Sakai and Nobuatsu Aoki.  It has also been announced that he will pair up with Sakai to race at the “Road to 8 Hours Suzuka 300km Endurance Race” in June.

Ryuichi Kiyonari is also to race at the 8 hours, although the team has not yet been finalized.  It will be his challenge to win his 3rd “Hachitai” win.

Makoto Tamada is still in negotiation, but he has strong desire to race in front of his fans in Japan.  He has not raced in Japan since MotoGP’s Japan GP in 2007.

Other than Speed of Japan’s riders, it has been announced today that Jonathan Rea (HANNspree Ten Kate Honda) will be at “Hachitai”.  His team has not yet been decided.  Yuki Takahashi (Tech 3 Racing), who currently is racing in the Moto 2 Series is also planned to participate.  Riders in the MotoGP Class will not be able to participate, as it coincides with their race at Laguna Seca.

The tickets go on sale May 8th.
