Yukio Kagayama places the team in the Top 10 Trial
Qualifying practice sessions were held today at Suzuka. Each rider was given two 20-minute sessions. Yukio Kagayama, in his first qualifying practice, marked a 2’07.594 to put the team into overall 7th. This allowed the team to be eligible for the Top 10 Trial tomorrow, which will decide the top 10 grids. Grid 11 and below was decided by the results from today’s qualification sessions.
Ryuichi Kiyonari, lapped at 2’08.172 in his second qualifying session, even though he was stuck in traffic on his flying lap. Noriyuki Haga marked a 2’09.226.
The team will continue to tune the setting tomorrow at Free Practice 4, which will be held before the Top 10 Trial.
Each team that made it to the Top 10 Trial, will try to improve their position tomorrow. At the Top 10 Trial, two riders from each time will run single-lap time attack, and the faster time will be used to determine the top 10 grid positions for the race.
