Kiyonari sets the pace for Team KAGAYAMA at Suzuka
Day 1 of the 38th Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race started today with 84 teams entering the one of the most prestigious race in Japan. #17 Team KAGAYAMA with rider and team owner, Yukio Kagayama, along with Noriyuki Haga and Ryuichi Kiyonari started the day and found speed both in wet and dry conditions.
The first practice session started out in the rain, with the rain gradually fading by the end. The team concentrated on wet settings. Ryuichi Kiyonari marked the best time of the team in wet conditions with a 2’23.007. The team opted not to run the last minutes of the session in which the track was drying out. Due to this, the team finished 7th in Group A.
The second practice session became the first dry session of the race week, and once again, Kiyonari marks the best lap of the team, with a 2’08.560, placing the team 5th fastest in Group A, and 7th fastest overall.
The team will continue tomorrow with qualifying sessions following a free practice session in the morning.
